Brad,

Yep, we own a 1986 Type II Tayana 37 (http://www.kaynor.org/rachel). She's a
great boat. We've got a friend in Deltaville who's selling his (there are
three of them on our dock)
http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/cache/pl_search_results.jsp?sm=3&cit=
true&slim=quick&ybw=null&is=false&type=%28Sail%29+Cruiser&man=Tayana&hmid=0&
ftid=0&enid=0&fromLength=36&toLength=40&luom=126&fromYear=&toYear=&fromPrice
=&toPrice=&currencyid=100&city=&spid=145&startint=&ps=30 and there are
usually quite a few to choose from on Yachtworld. Many of these boats, like
ours, are already set up for blue water cruising. To find that "ugly
duckling" you're looking for you may have to spend some time visiting
boatyards on either or both coasts, since ugly ducklings don't tend to get
listed in Yachtworld very often.

If your friend's not set on a Tayana, and might be interested in a "go fast"
boat we've got some other friends that are letting a 1978 36' High Tension
go for a song. Nobody seems to know about these boats on this side of the
Atlantic, so he's had to drop the price several times and I know he'd
entertain any reasonable offer - he's also got A 42' Beneteau and he's tired
of having to maintain two boats. It's been for sale for over a year on the
Chesapeake and no one's shown much interest in it because of it's 7' draft.
Made in England, the boat is a 1979 Fastnet race storm survivor. Our friends
sailed it from Holland to Norfolk in 29 days. It's a solid and fast boat and
it's in excellent shape and way under priced. If he's interested, let me
know and I'll make an introduction to the owner.

Attention Mark Kaynor,

You said you were on the Tanyana list. Do you own one? I'm shopping for a
"blue water" boat for my best friend and the Tanyana 37 made the list. We
bid on a hurricane damaged Island Packet 35 that went above what we thought
was reasonable. We have the space to put one on the hard for extensive
repairs and are looking for an "ugly duckling" for a refit before he leaves
for sea. Any input?
