Barney... this is very helpful... I followed you on the repair instructions 
up to "after sealing the openings very thoroughly".  Are you talking about 
sealing the inside length of the holes that the bolts go through or are you 
talking about caulking AFTER the bolts are put through to protect from 
moisture?  I know nearly zilch about boat repair...
