Mark, I use a ridge pole with a couple of supports along it's
length. I tie the tarp together at the bow and stern and use a
bungie under the trailer forward of the wheels toward the bow. I then
use 4 soda bottles filled with sand on each side making sure that the
tarp is wide enough so that the bottles rest along the trailer rails
and do not bang into the boat as the wind blows. This arrangement
allows the tarp to lift a little in the wind so that there is a
little ventilation under the tarp. I also leave the companion door
open so that there is ventilation into the cabin. I check often and
remove snow from the tarp when needed. Seems to have worked well
over the years
