Herb,

Not to change the subject but that reminds me of a funny story from my
career. In the late 70's on of my favorite bosses, the late Claud Holbert,
sent me to Beechcraft King Air school in Wichita. After I got back I flew a
trip as F/O on a King Air for the guy who now owns the Dallas Cowboys. The
Captain had a goofy way of starting the engines quite unlike how I'd been
taught at the factory school. He'd start #2, closest to the battery, bring
the generator on line for 30 seconds, then shut the gen off and start #1,
then bring both gens online. The factory said start #2 and use the
generator to relieve the battery for the second start. I went to Mr.
Holbert and asked which method was correct. He explained that the first 50
serial numbers out of the factory had current limiters that were too small,
thus the procedure I'd witnessed, but that all the aircraft had been
modified.

"Mr. Holbert, should I explain to the Captain what the correct method is?"

"Naw, son, you'd just piss him off. Remember kid, there's some things about
flying that's just like fu#&ing, there really ain't no wrong way!"
