[Rhodes22-list] Winter's coming in the northeast

I think that I would rather wax my skis than argue incessantly about these
seemingly hopeless political situations.
As I said, we used to sail until the snow fell. Unfortunately, the local
town government regulations now require that our moorings be removed from
the Nissequogue River prior to Nov 1, making Indian Summer sailing a fond
memory. If we leave the moorings in, they will be removed and confiscated,
lest they become "a hazard to navigation." One must wonder what they would
do if an R22 were still attached. Trailer based daily launching is the only
solution, although the high tide requirement for launch and recovery
severely limits our ability to sail in the late fall season when daylight
hours are limited and the temps drop quickly when the sun goes down.
Since they are predicting a major nor'easter for Long Island this weekend
with 60+ mph winds, I felt that it would be better to pull the R22,
winterize and fasten the tarp this past week. Oh well, our season is over.
