Hadj, I sure did. Also built an Imsai in the '70s,
wrote device drivers for the 8080 and Z80 in assembler
under CP/M, and a task dispatcher for MP/M during its
brief life. Met Captain Crunch (phone phreaker) and
also Ted Nelson of Xanadu fame (its linking concepts
predated the World Wide Web, see http://xanadu.com/ ),
and learned microprocessor concepts at a visceral level.

While I was programming mainframes and minis for a
living, I was completely saturated with a
microprocessor-enabled world view that is only now
coming into reality.

It was a bubbling ferment of ideas and great genius,
stretching the mind and spawning aspirations the were
not only outside the box -- they were not in the same
galaxy as the box.

Thanks, Hadz, for calling up the memories!
