Captain Rummy,

      A few guys were having a convention on "B" dock.  I found out later
that they were measuring the wind speed.  They were clocking 30 mph on the
dock which was protected from the full force in the channel.
      At least four boats were taking advantage of the situation.  One of
the big boats was even motivated to go out.  It was white cap city just out
from the docks by the breakwater.   It would have been a day to sail from
Hartwell Marina to Big Water, just a 30 minute ride if you could keep your
sails. 
       It was a sight to see a 30+ foot boat double reefed and healing over
30 degrees.
