Me, Terri & Sydney (my wife & my dog) drove to Minnisota last week. I
bought a Rhodes 22, (recycled 2001) to pick it up. Driving a 2002 Toyota we
left Saturday morning about 5:ooAm. , drove to Sterling, Co. the first night
& stayed in a Super
8. Don't ever stay in a Super 8. Sunday night we had steaks at my brothers
in Northrop Minn., much better. Sydney & Tank (there dog) became fast
friends but we had to leave early, I knew we would be all day to Minneapolis
& back in time for Mark & I to look over & road ready the trailer. We had to
do some things as expected but we were able to eat & get on the road before
dark. We drove to just the other side of Omaha that night, stayed in a
pretty nice place, can't remember the name. But I'd stay there again. The
next morning we kinda slept in cuz it was a nice room & we were tired. We
headed out about 9:00am & drove thru rain but no wind for a long time. We
saw some pretty big storm clouds coming into Colorado Springs, we got dinner
& a room there, La Quinta, I'd stay there again. We started early, I think
5:00am, I drove almost to Gallup before our mishap. Heavy head winds all the
way. I remember hearing the sound of something falling of the truck &
shortly after I got all the dash lights. We called USAA & we have Roadside
Assistance so they made all the arrangements & we were out of there in less
than an hour. This was about 5:00 pm now so business is closing, parts are
in 2 hours away so we stayed the night. Our truck was fixed by 1:00 pm so
we traveled to Flagstaff, in to a blizzard. Zero visibility, seemed like. We
stopped in town to replace a tail-light bulb & get gas. Last leg home went
quick & what I worried about most the whole trip was how am I gonna get this
over the wash in front of my house, I drove right over it, no problem. Now
the adventure just begins.
