I have had just the opposite experience in GPS manufacturers.  I had
problems with Garmin and then got a Magellan, and it works as advertised.  I
recommend Magellan over Garmin based on many years of experience with
various units.

And the little pecker tracks have taken me back home... It worked as
advertised.
