[Rhodes22-list] need help with shredded main sail

Don;t forget about the other newbie down here in Key Largo!  a few weeks ago
I got a small 3-4 inch tear in the mail sail. This was in the area of sail
that lufts the most at that back 'point' 3 ft above the boom, before it
angles towards the top of the mast. I patched it but did not get it resown.
I took the boat out in 20-25 kt winds on FRI, got a bit stuck in irons and
before I could sort out I had two 4 foot tears about 2 feet apart in that
same area. Is this really repairable or would cost be such as to seriously
consider replacing with new sail. I saw a site that I think Art mentioned
for $575 for full replacement and I think I read about a new main sail that
Stan had, but don;t know price or comparables. Also, what is the protocol
for getting the sail out of mast?  Family coming on SAT and need to move
fast. THANKS! Pete
