Elle, There is a very good chance the Eagle did not kill the prey. Like
vultures Eagles do scavenge quite often. Nice clear shots...I could
really zoom in. - Wally

  The eagle & vultures flew around for a while after those shots were
  taken...the eagle flew to a tree about 100 yds away; the vultures
  eventually landed one by one & made quick work of the remains.

  Driving home yesterday I came upon the following
  situation;

  A bald eagle had caught his prey but was unable to fly
  off with it. He made several atempts but could not get
  off the ground.

  Vultures were attracted to the scene and the eagle was
  defending his prey.

  I have an entire series of shots but these two tell
  the story. (Not technically good photos but good
  documentary stuff.)
