Dave,
We agree - a flat roof would not work. Simple on the side curtains - how long does it take to unzip 2 ea. 6 foot zippers? The top must have a pitch to shed moisture in the summer. The pitch is changed to steeper for the winter cover mode - that is no problem. The mod takes just a few minutes to accomplish. The wind has not been a problem here, gusts and all. It would be easy to supplement the snap connections with strap attachments along the curtain bottoms. There are a few other options, too, if necessary. Nice to have the flexibility and yet be so simple.
The toughest part is choosing the colors. I can imagine Elle's now, starting with a candy apple red top!
