[Rhodes22-list] Downhaul rigging revisited--Fretless set up

Rory,
Here is a picture of what we have. The black starboard pieces on
either side of the rudder are held apart by wooden spacers. On the
forward side of the rudder. the lower end of the spacer is rounded
and the downhaul/hold down line runs over that. The spacer prevents
the line from getting between the rudder and the starboard pieces on
either side of the rudder. The lower aft side of the forward spacer
(got that?) is hollowed out so that when the rudder is pulled all the
way down (and forward) it fits up against the spacer.

Hope this helps but I guess it's a very different setup. We and the
boat are here in Rock Hall if you want to come take a look.
