[Rhodes22-list] Speaking of Winter - Heating Question

Bob,

Thanks for the info! My hangar neighbor switched to a heat pump a few years
ago and is lending us his old kerosene "mother-of-all-units" for a trial
run. He said the smell wasn't that bad so long as you used kerosene and not
diesel. An electric heat-pump unit is the way to go in our climate but
since we don't own the hangar I'm a bit reluctant to spend the money.
What's sad is this; we probably hauled a dozen or more perfectly good heat
pumps to the "special-can't touch this" disposal site on the MS Gulf during
the demo-phase of recovery because FEMA was all over your ass, 'real time'
for using common sense. Anyone who thinks the federal government didn't
make a full blown response to Katrina is full of shit or ignorant. Sorry,
didn't mean to go political there. If my hangar mate and I choose to look
long term, a heat pump is the way to go. We'll try kerosene this winter and
see if it breaks the bank (or just smells too bad).
