You are a young man.  I did a similar thing over the 4th of July weekend. 
Only I did not go as far.  Just to Lake Russell.  You should try Lake
Russell if you want solitude.  I only saw one other sailboat and it
evidentially does not see use often:

As to your sail question, look back in the archives for all of Peter Thorn’s
and Wally Buck’s post on this matter.  Peter’s sail came from a world famous
racing sail maker.  

You really need to challange Rummy, he has been seduced by the sounds of
motors.
