Did you get a big spark or a pulsating current on your hand and did ever occur when touching a non-metallic surface?? Depending on your reply I'll contact a sailing friend who is an electrical engineer specializing in high voltage current for his answer.

Subject: Re: [Rhodes22-list] question about electricity
I'm Carol from Colorado, and I try to monitor the list but there are so many
postings, that I usually can't keep up. I did have this problem a few years
ago, and it was BAD. The boat would carry a charge and we'd get seriously
shocked when we touched anything. This only occurred when there were storms in
the area, and there was one day when we actually could hear the buzz in the
stays! It was very nervracking. I never did figure out what caused it. We did
unhook the batteries and it didn't change anything. The only thing I could
come up with is the electricity from the storm somehow was charging the boat. I
haven't been on the boat lately when storms are nearby so for all I know, it
could happen again. Sorry that I can't offer more help.
