[Rhodes22-list] food for thought

Joe,

Of course racism and bigotry exist in this country, no one is denying
that. I live and work in a predominantly black city (Memphis). Our
former Congressman, Harold Ford, Sr., used to refer to us in the
mostly white suburbs as "blue eyed-devils". One of his sons (not
Harold Ford, Jr. who I respect) said in the primaries this year that
"we can't have a Jew representing a black district".

The issue here is "are you a racist for asking questions about Barack
Obama's character"? To suggest that you are is ridiculous on the
surface and dangerous. I don't care what color crayon out of the box
of 64 he is. I'm not a racist so there's no reason to give the matter
a second thought when choosing to ask questions.

I expect the same fair treatment of Bobby Jindal in 2012.
