Herb, I am not supporting anything Nancy did or said. I agree the left
has a large enough majority to carry the bill but it would be political
suicide for the left (or the right) to go this alone. Right wrong or
indifferent it just will not happen.
You must admit (or maybe not) If the right wanted to be non partisan
they could have ignored what Nancy said and voted yea or nay based on what
they thought was best for the country. I don't believe they changed their
mind because of what Nancy said and yes I saw the interview with House Whip
and Minority leader when they made the claim
I don't think the right ever had their share of the votes to start
with but I could be wrong. Maybe it would be good to know who actually
changed their votes? Do you think we will ever find out? I can see it
now....."yes i though this bill was good for the country and I realize all
parties worked hard to compromise. However i voted against because Nancy
said it was the Presidents fault. " I would love to see anyone come forward
and say that.
Your comment about Nancy being the Speaker for the whole House sounds like
you think she should have been able to persuade her party to commit
potential suicide in lock step. This bill started from the top right.....it
seems to me that if you use your same logic Bush, McCain, and the Whip
(forget his name but love his title) should have been able .to get the dozen
or so votes they needed. What does this say about the leadership on the
right?
I do agree about working through the holiday....I mean what could be more
serious than this? I say lock them in the room and no one leaves until they
agree on something! Deep down both sides want this but neither side has
the leadership.or the guts. A lot of career politicians are covering their
asses. These guys will look like bigger idiots on holiday if we get more of
the same the next few days.
