What's the deal with the "underwater" docks? - rob


Rob,

That is the launch dock at Wolfs Run Marina. The first part of that dock is
fixed to shore what you're seeing is the resevoir 4 feet above normal max
summer pool. The weekend before you couldn't see the railings as the lake
level was 8' or so above max level. Kinzua is a flood control dam and the C
of E lets the lake level rise and fall as conditions and weather dictate. In
the fall they lower the lake level 25' and fill the lake every spring with
25' of snowmelt and spring rain. The clarity and relative purity of the
water is one of the reasons I boat here.
