Rummy,
Today was perfect for cruising the North Coast. We decided to stop in at
Wildwood YC for lunch and you won't believe who helped me tie up. It was
the last owner of the OMC dealership for this area.
Of course, he was delighted to see my trusty Yachtwin the PO had bought at
his old store. Reluctantly (do I lie?), I brought up our argument. He
laughed and said Evinrude typically put diaphragm carburetors on their high
end models. In fact, the diaphragm carburetor was part of defining the
Yachtwin because they do so well maintaining a steady RPM when the boat is
pitching and heeling. And I must say, it works very well with mine in the
worst conditions.
Unfortunately, he could offer no advice on atmcneil's problem. He sold 'em,
didn't fix 'em.
Anyway, buddy, if you have a genuine Yachtwin, you have a diaphragm instead
of a float in your carburetor.
