There is another marina that is at the Solomon's Island Recreation Center . .
. oddly enough it is run by Naval District Washington MWR. whereas the
marina on the Air Station is run by NAS PAX River MWR. I don't know what
they charge at the SI Rec Center, but I pay a little over $1200/yr for the
Rhodes. The on base facility also has a sailing club with a couple of
Catalina 16s & 25s, a couple Hunter 21s, a couple of Luders 44 yawls, and
they are getting 40+ footer from the Naval Academy this spring. So you can
sail bigger boats with the proper certification. Or you can crew for summer
races on the yawls (they also take the yawls to Norfolk each year and enter
them into the Governors Cup). Anyway, lots of sailing opportunities.

Art,
Not the same guy. I came in through Officer Candidate School in '81/82. To
answer a previous question, the marina is on the base . . . in fact it's
less than a mile from my office, so evening sails after work are easy to do.
I agree that it's a great place to sail. I'm still a novice, but hope to
get more adventurous this spring.
