[Rhodes22-list] John Shulick - I draw a distiction

Blanche,

Those that don't stay are referred to as "rats leaving a sinking ship." Oh,
for the days when all hands tried to solve the problems of a failing
business, even if it meant "going down with the ship."

Thanks, Robert.

Guess I'll never understand why these folks get paid regardless of whether
their companies are tanking. I'll just listen to the sailing talk, and learn
how to use the wind.

Sincerely,
Blanche DeFord

Blanche,

It is a very competitive market out their for highly successful executive
personnel. For a person to have reached the top jobs in most industries,
they
have already proven that they are leaders and will make the company more
money

than they cost. Supply and demand, just like everywhere else.

Robert

Robert,

Thank you for the explanation about directors.

Why would they let these huge exec bonuses and salaries get out of hand
like
this?

Sincerely,
Blanche DeFord

The board of directors for most corporations are made up of people outside
of the business. People such as lawyers, bankers and accountants are good
board members. Their seats on the board change frequently and they receive
nominal reimbursement for their participation. Many times large stock
holders
are
invited to sit on the board.

Blanche,

I'm no expert on corporate governance, but I would imagine that the
board sets their own compensation, similar to the way the congress sets
theirs.
