IMO, the scope is just for ventillating the anchor locker. Since it is
prone to collecting water from waves and wind blown rain, I only use the
scope when my ground tackle is wet. Otherwise, I use a plastic cap to close
the opening.
If you're not going to use the locker, a solar vent may make sense. But
realize, neither the scope nor a solar vent is going to provide
ventillation during a hot, still night.
I've never seen a solar vent that is removeable, but if you know of one, who
sells it?
