Chris,

It will be too cold for your solar panels to charge your battery.  In fact,
they will try to draw power from the battery.  So if you do leave the
battery aboard, be sure it is disconnected in case your diode or anything
else causes a fault.

Another thing, if you have a deep cycle battery, be sure to use a deep cycle
charger to fully charge the battery before winter storage.  With a regular
charger, it could freeze and crack.
