[Rhodes22-list] What do you suggest as replacement

Geoff,
We loved our Honda 8 (a 1998 - they later sold the model as the
'classic"). It did not have a flush port (had to use muffs (nearly
impossible in a slip)) and died of saltwater clogging of the cooling
passages and corrosion after we moved to MD. Actually, it probably
could have been revived but would have cost more than a new motor. We
like the Yamaha even better though it weighs more. The Yamaha has a
handy hose connection for flushing. Ours is supposed to be a 2007. I
think you can flush the new Hondas though you may have to remove the
cowling to do so. The high thrust option looks attractive. It makes a
big difference in some conditions. I see the Honda is available in 3
shaft lengths. Check with Stan on which is appropriate. I think ours
is 25 but it might be less. Neither Fred nor I are certain. We don't
have power tilt and didn't feel a need for it - more weight. With the
motor lift all the way up the propeller drags a bit when we heel on
the one tack but not badly.
Where is the boat going to be in salt water?
I asked about the well because we are on the Eastern Shore of MD
(Delmarva Peninsula - directly across the Chesapeake from Baltimore)
and have a well but public sewer.
