Bob, Rhodies
I got the TOHATSU 8hp / 4 Stroke w the alternator
I also bought the Tohatsu floor remote and mounted it against the
lazarette bulkhead sticking into the cockpit. I like the motor and
service it regularly but
have found it JUST adequate for currents in my area and would be re-
evaluating its performance if I ever get to sail up into NY Harbor
and the Hudson.
Using the floor remote is fine for docking and my only issue was
last year when the safety inter lock for reverse malfunctioned and
the motor came out of the water in reverse
Now I do a reverse test before docking ! My service tech fixed it
well so far!
safe sails
