[Rhodes22-list] What are these for?

I have a bracket much like that--it helps keep the 6 gal gas tank in place under the port cockpit seat. I've wondered what the quick release pin is for.

A word for anyone with a Mercury outboard: decided I wanted a gas can/tank with the more recent safety features and ordered the Mercury tank without measuring carefully. The best price online was (ouch) $H99. Well, it won't go under the seat--too high. (Keep meaning to put it on Craig's List.)

Getting ready to splash the new boat this week.  After the motor rebuild I have to replace both batteries (ouch!).  I've got a couple of items I don't recognize.  Anyone tell me what the wooden piece is for and what the bracket (?) under the seat is for?  Thanks - rob
