Sean,
You should be able to develop some good choices in that price range.
Definitely stay w the IMF as an absolute. I lost my '87 in a hurricane last
year, but was able to save the IMF mast and convert it to an '83. The
conversion was not easy, but now a have a new main sail that furls
perfectly. I am glad I stayed w the IMF. It is a big plus when single
handing. I also added a 14w solar panel, second battery and 12v chiller in
the galley. As long as you have the IMF, any extras can be added later.

Hi Rob,
Well, I'm trying to narrow down my list of must-have features. At this
point, those would be the IMF main, since that's actually what drew me to
the Rhodes in the first place. I figure I'll be single handing a lot, and
the thought of trying to flake the main over the boom by myself was pretty
unappealing. The second is a working electrical system, since I'll
definitely want to have a radio on Lake Michigan. The motor mount and tiller
linkage system would also be great, though I can live without that. As far
as other features go, I'll take what I can get. My price range right now is
$8000-$15000, though I'm not really planning to buy until after the first of
the year, so that may change. Is that realistic at all?
