[Rhodes22-list] Solar Power Ventilators

I'm late to the discussion (been moving), but I have a Nicro--the larger one (4"?) and it works well. It's powerful enuff to pull air through the cabin pretty quickly, efficiently charges its own battery, and runs around the clock. As others recommended, it's installed in the bow above the rode locker. Since I also have a bow roller, there was some question about how the Nicro might get in the way of one's feet when standing at the pulpit, but that hasn't been much of a problem.

If I remember correctly, it's also easy to reverse the little plastic "propeller" (fan blades) so that it blows air into the cabin rather than out. That is, it's easy after you slide out the rode locker, which isn't quite as easy.

I was away when Isaac blew by last summer; when I got back the rode locker held a lot of water. I don't blame the Nicro--I think the water got in around anchor chain--and the ventilator was still purring just fine.

I installed one of the Nicro models in the vent above the tray above the v-berth. It just fit. I think it worked pretty well. Never had a problem with leaking throughout the vent either. I'll buy a new one this year.
