OK, SML is fairly close to you.  I'm down at Claytor Lake.  We have a slip at the state park.  We have two Rhodes down there now.  SML is about 1.5 hours from our house while Claytor is 40 minutes. - rob

Rob....I'f I'd day-sailing I usually go to Smith Mountain Lake.  But I try to take one or two trips to the coast each year.  This year we did the 4th of July weekend sailing to Tangier Island.
