I found the large Genoa would luff inside 110 degrees and I would lose 2 knots if furled with lines inside and the 130 points up to 90 with no loss of speed.

Rick,
How do you perform in less than perfect conditions with your headsail? I
race weekly (for recreational, not competitive reasons, and come in last
even with a ~270 PHRF). In my typical air, I have 3-5 knots with 1/2 - 1
knot current (Susquehanna River mouth).
I single hand and at best I can get 110 tack angle with the 170. It
doesn't change any with rolling the head up some and running the jib sheets
inside the outer shrouds.
My current plan is to move from the rope traveler between the backstays to
a rail behind the cabin (the rail was installed by a previous owner, but
didn't provide the traveler system, of which mine just arrived in the
mail). And as soon as fiscally possible move to a 130.
The only place I even get close to keeping up is downwind wing-on-wing
legs, but the club doesn't race non-spin boats straight downwind so... I'm
always well behind. In the below race, I was lapped before I even made it
around the northern mark.
