Here are photos of Respite covered for the winter here in Virginia. You're correct, with all the shrouds on the Rhodes, you'll need a pretty large bank account to cover it with the mast stepped. It is much more practical to haul the boat and lower the mast. A good 20 X 30 tarp and a bunch of bungee work fine.

I made a boom tent out of sunbrella for in season protection. This is pretty much limited to the length of the boom. Helps to keep dew and debris out of cockpit.

We always stored Fretless on the hard with the mast down. We made a PVC
frame to support a tarp so the mast, the spreaders and the stays weren't
involved. We padded places that might rub with scrap pieces of carpet
and tied the tarp down so it was taut, shed rain and snow and didn't
flap much in the wind.
