[Rhodes22-list] Water in the Cabin

Reuben,
Sorry about the water in your boat. Our Rhodes (refurbished by GB) never
had a bilge pump and never needed one during the 16 summers she spent in
a slip on the Chesapeake. We did have a hand pump and buckets but never
needed them.

Years ago word from someone who managed to put a hole in his centerboard
cap was that the flotation in the boat would allow it to flood to the
top of the bunks but no further.

While they don't appear to be connected there are channels that let
water run from the lazarette to the cabin so if the lazarette floods,
the water will run toward the cabin. Double check the hose for the
cockpit drain that runs through the lazarette as the lower end is below
the waterline and a break in the hose or a failed connection below the
waterline could cause the boat to flood.

Best of luck finding the leak and drying her out.
