Peter, Here are a couple of downhaul system.Red line is downhaul and blue is uphaul.Note that there is a stainless rod that serves as a fairleadat the bottom the helps make the 90 degree turn around the butt of the rudder to the tie-off on the rudder.The other photo shows the thumb wheel underneath the tiller. You'll have to zoom in.
