Peter,
My R22 is a ‘97 with solid core (as I believe all others are). I’ve had an Airmar in hull transducer to a Garmin for 26+ years with good results. I mounted it next to the compression post in the head with an inspection port for access.

I'd prefer not to drill any holes in the boat, especially below the waterline (if possible). I'm hoping to mount it in the hull below the "v" berth near the water tank. Does anyone know if the hull is cored in this location. In hull transducers require a solid core to work.
