FYI

President Bush's 2005 budget calls upon Congress to
approve $4.1 billion in tax incentives through 2009 to
spur the use of clean, renewable energy, and
energy-efficient technologies, such as hybrid and
fuel-cell vehicles, residential solar heating systems,
renewable energy produced from landfill gas, wind, or
biomass, and efficient combined heat and power
systems.

These tax incentives, which were first proposed as
part of the President's National Energy Policy in
2001, can help improve our environment while
sustaining our economic growth and ensuring our the
country's energy security. We will continue to work
with the Congress to enact these important incentives,
which expired at the end of 2003

There some good reading here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/energy/index.html

Each year, approximately 65 percent of the oil
consumed in the United States is used for
transportation. How many Democrats out there are
willing to give up thier cars????????????

Roughly 30 percent of our nation’s electricity supply
is now generated by nuclear, hydropower, and renewable
sources, all of which have few air emissions.

Coal is America’s most abundant fuel source. The
United States has a 250-year supply of coal.

Nuclear energy is the second-largest source (20
percent) of U.S. electricity generation.

Natural gas is the third-largest source of U.S.
electricity generation, accounting for 16 percent of
generation in 2000. Eighty-five percent of total U.S.
natural gas consumption is produced domestically.

Hydropower is the fourth-largest source of U.S.
electricity generation, accounting for about 7 percent
of total generation in 2000.

Oil accounts for approximately 3 percent of
electricity generation.

The share of oil in U.S. energy supply has declined
since the early 1970s, the result of growth in other
fuels, particularly coal and nuclear. Per capita oil
consumption, which reached a peak in 1978, has fallen
by 20 percent from that level. In 2020, oil is
projected to account for roughly the same share of
U.S. energy consumption as it does today.

The U.S. influence on overall world markets is
substantial in terms of production and consumption.
The United States is the world’s second largest
natural gas producer and its third largest oil
producer. The United States consumes over 25 percent
of the oil produced worldwide, slightly more than half
of which it import
