Ben;

It was a bit troublesome, as Velvet Elvis gets ornery about 
tacking through the wind when it is really blowing and the waves get to 
pushing us around a little.

There is no rule against jibing when tacking gets tough.  I've had some
difficulty tacking here on this side of the Gulf as well as on Cape Cod
Bay.  A good controlled jibe is a nifty maneuver.
