[Rhodes22-list] The 1st Shoe Has Dropped

I know it's sort of a tired axiom Roger, but I firmly believe that "one
door shuts, two more open"....sometimes they just don't look like doors.
Recently, I applied for a position as the Arroyo Colorado Watershed Manager
(the title is unimportant, it was a SUBSTANTIAL increase in pay). I had all
of the qualifications, plus. Knew all of the key players and probably had
more of a chance than anyone here to accomplish the lofty goals that this
new positions' mission statement stated....
It was a combination State/University (A&M...shoulda figured....aggies ;-))
position, and after submitting my curriculum vitae, I got the requisite
email that I would be interviewed soon. Never heard form them again. Turns
out they already had a handpicked candidate prior to advertising the
position (I personally received confirmation at a meeting when they let the
cat out of the bag.....aggies like I said....). They only advertised it as
a "formality" so that they could be in compliance (like Ed suggested).
In conclusion, we really focused on our small business (Estrella del Mar
Environmental), and it has now taken off, so much in fact that scheduling
new clients is problematic and we have even talked the "e" word
(expansion).... seems like everything just fell in place. I couldn't be
happier here even though I have to continuously chase grants (doing that
right now in fact) to just make a "living wage" through the University.
None of this would've happened had I not gotten that rejection.
As others have stated, it appears evident that you a talented and
facilitative individual, with a great gift for reasoning. Whoever finally
receives that talent will benefit greatly, keep an open mind and never lose
faith. You'll be rewarded.
Hang in there.
