[Rhodes22-list] Boom Room Review

Remember I have no "fat in the fire" for this one,
I would forget that the PTE even exits, the issue I have is you will
need the same locations that the PTE use to attach the snaps, you have
nice simple clean line if you attach every thing to the mast cabin side
/ forward the same way the PTE does. If you stop it early to meet the
PTE it will be a nightmare and you have very like hope for any type of
"rain proof"
The boom is as a main support is a great idea, with the "straps" holding
it to it, BTW it would use those "turn sideway" clips you see on sail
covers vs Velcro.
The toping lift will be a problem; I would replace the standard "knot"
with some type of clip so you can thread it thought the roof.
Now for a new idea, I hope you are able to follow it:
To support the roof, I would put a series of "folder able carbon fiber
tent rods" in the roof running port to starboard in "pockets" sween into
the roof underside, sized to match the outer hull shape(but trappers in
by the cabin to act like a PTE), for example every foot fore to aft.
The rods only are in the roof.
Think in terms of adjustable nylon straps, the one that connected to the
roof at one end, about 5 feet long, have a buckle to adjunct length and
a clip on the end.
Next, there is no "stiff" side supports. I would take the straps from
the roof(assuming a strap where every rod end meets the roof) and bring
is to a small stainless footman at or below the outer hull rubrail, just
clip it on. The rubrail and hull corner should seal out bugs, Then
tighten(they are preset after the first use) to form a "bow" in the
roof, nice shape to shed water and should hold up to any wind, what also
nice because most of it outside the hull there is "give" to adjust to a
boat. Us spans by the cabin, companion way like the PTE does now. Stop
the roof at the end of the boom and bring a set of strap down to the
back deck, outside the rail and cut a slot for the tiller
The strap are on the outside of the panels, they can passthought simple
pockets in the side panles to help with "flapping" in the wind.

PS. How that for an non answer :-)
