Quoting Daniel Johnson <djohnson0671 at gmail.com>:
Daniel, How dare you ask a boating question on this Rhodes-22 Political Action
news letter!! Your gym idea is a good one but can still result in sore
muscles
and strained back. Unless you can get your boat with the stern backed right up
to a dock a 100# dead lift is challenging. Trying to pull your motor into your
boat is also difficult with the stern rail. The difference in the
height of the
pier (dock) to boat is another factor. Two people trying to get a good grip on
the motor is difficult. A small marina in Michigan's UP had a simple system
they used. A 4x4, a cement block and two sections of rope. The block was used
as a fulcrum for the 4x4. One piece of rope was tied to the upper part of the
motor. The second piece of rope was tied to the bottom of the motor. The 4x4
lifted the motor off the boat's transom mount and the boat was moved
out of the
way. The bottom of the motor was pulled up onto the pier (dock). The
top part of
the motor was pulled closer to the pier (dock) then lifted up onto the pier
(dock). This motor was much bigger that a 9.5 HP and the two men were put
together pretty well. The tether ends of the ropes were tied to the pier as a
safety precaution. Good Luck
